External ventricular drainage catheters are indicated for the drainage and monitoring of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) from the lateral ventricles of the brain. Catheters can be used to reduce intracranial pressure (ICP), to monitor ICP, to monitor CSF, and to treat hydrocephalic shunt infections.
